How to Make Placemat Aprons

STEP ONE: If you’re using a perfect rectangle placemat, fold the top corners down slightly and secure them with some hot glue to create a more apron-like shape. MAKE SURE YOU ADD GLUE JUST TO THE VERY EDGE OF THE PLACEMAT SO YOU CAN EASILY SLIDE A RIBBON THROUGH.

STEP TWO: Thread the ribbon up through one folded corner of the placemat and down through the other side, creating a loop in the middle for your child’s head to slip through. Make sure the ribbon tails are long enough to tie comfortably in a bow at the back.

Once you make one, don’t be surprised if you start looking at every placemat in the store wondering what kind of apron it could become.
