Naughty or Nice Behavior Chart

This Naughty or Nice Behavior Chart is perfect if you happen to have kids who can become a little unruly at times. (And if that excludes any of you, we need to talk- I need to know your secrets!)

This idea came to me years ago when my then 3-year-old was throwing (another) fit. Fits happen year-round at my house, but at Christmastime, they seem to be more-easily solved simply by saying something to the effect of “kids who throw fits get put on the naughty list.”

So I made this printable to use as a little visual “reminder” that Santa only brings presents to those kids on the nice list. It has helped end a tantrum or two in my home- even if just for a second!

The general idea is to let each child pick a colored marker. Add some tape on the back of their marker, then display to chart somewhere where it is seen often. As they behave good or bad throughout the day, move their marker up and down the list.

You could have a special treat or priviledge each day that they end on the nice list – stay up 5 minutes past their bedtime, make a holiday treat, etc. -OR- you can use this all season long and just encourage good behavior before Christmas day so Santa doesn’t bring them coal.

I have a teacher friend who has used it in her classroom, too! When the class is listening, on task, working hard, being helpful, or trying their best, she’ll move their class marker up. If they end the day on the “nice list”, they get a special privilege the following day – 5 minutes of extra recess, a small treat, etc. The kids love it, and it has been a fun way to encourage good behavior!
