This lacing cards activity pack is the perfect hands-on project to help kids develop fine motor skills while having fun with holiday and seasonal designs!
As a parent, I’m always on the lookout for activities that are both fun and educational for my kids. Whether it’s rainy days or just a quiet afternoon, I love having easy go-to projects that keep little hands busy while they learn and grow. Enter: lacing cards!
Lacing cards are an incredible way for kids to work on their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and patience all while having fun.
The best part? You can make them right at home!
Today, I’m excited to share a set of 40 lacing card designs perfect for different seasons and holidays that you can download, print, and enjoy in minutes.
What Are Lacing Cards?
Lacing cards are simple cutouts with holes punched around the edges where kids can “sew” or “lace” through the holes with yarn, string, or even shoelaces. They’re a great way to help kids develop those small motor movements while giving them something creative to do.
The concept is simple, but the benefits are huge:
- Fine motor skill development: Grasping and threading the laces through small holes helps strengthen those tiny hand muscles.
- Focus and concentration: Kids stay engaged as they carefully lace the card and complete the design.
- Hand-eye coordination: It’s a great activity to help them coordinate their eyes and hands, which also supports writing skills later on!

How to Make DIY Lacing Cards
Here’s how to get started with your own lacing cards:
- Download and print the lacing card designs from the [link to Etsy listing].
- Cut out each design along the outline.
- Laminate the cards (optional). This will make them more durable so they last longer. HERE is a link to my favorite Laminator.
- Punch holes around the edges of each design. Make sure the holes are evenly spaced for easy lacing.
- Grab some yarn or shoelaces, and let your little one start threading!
