An Easy DIY You Can Keep Up All Year

If you love decorating for every season but don’t want to fill your storage bins with extra decor, this easy seasonal home decor DIY might be your new favorite idea!

This simple project uses a single 2×4 block of wood, a little spray paint, and some vinyl lettering to create a rotating piece of decor you can display year-round. Each side of the block features one of the four seasons—just flip it as the months change!

It’s quick, inexpensive, and gives your home a festive touch without any clutter.

Supplies to make Seasonal Home Decor

What You’ll Need

  • 1 piece of 2×4 wood, cut to about 6–8 inches long
  • Sandpaper (optional, for smoothing rough edges)
  • Spray paint (I used white, but you can choose whatever color that best matches your decor, or do seasonal colors on each side)
  • Vinyl or adhesive letters (you can use stickers or cut your own)

How to Make This Easy Seasonal Home Decor DIY

1. Prep + Paint the Wood Block

Lightly sand your 2×4 to smooth out the edges and surface. Wipe off any sawdust or debris, then paint it. Let it dry completely between coats.

Optional – Add dimension

I added some black pieces of vinyl around the edges, just because I like the way it looks!

3. Add the Words

Decide which side will feature each season — Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter.
You can use vinyl letters, stickers, or even stencils to label each side. Choose fonts or colors that fit your home style. Carefully place the letters on each side, making sure they’re centered and straight.

4. Display and Rotate

That’s it! Once everything’s dry and in place, display your block on a shelf, mantle, or entryway table. When the season changes, just rotate the block to the next side.
